Community Tasting Notes 2

April 25, 2007 - Notes consistent with last time, but I don't get the green note with this bottle. My GF notes some volatile acidity, which is there, but not at a level which bothers me (but does bother her).

February 14, 2007 - I've never been a big fan of Barbera, but I enjoyed this when I tasted it at a local retailer, so I picked up a couple of bottles. Dark, plummy aromas, with a green note (from ver jus maybe?) that comes across as herbal (thyme?). Palate shows tons of acid (unsurprisingly) and modest tannins, with that same green note. The nose is perhaps a bit too high toned and the palate is a bit hollow, both of which leave me wanting. The wine is very nice at the table though, and paired well with pasta with leeks and smoked tomatoes. All in all, this hasn't exactly made me a fan of this grape, but my guess is that if you are a fan, it's a nice example.
