Community Tasting Notes 4

December 2, 2016 - Big perfumed nose with incense and mild spices. Some earth influence but mostly ripe purple and red fruit. Sweet but mature plum and red apple fruit on the palate. Dense and very flavourful. Lots of energy and seemingly in a good drinking window right now. Tannins were pleasant and not unduly sharp or dry. Good bottle and a good deal.

January 4, 2015 - Some barnyard on the nose that blew off after an hour. Nice red and black fruit, spice, earth with nice balance and weight. Much better than the 95 Clos Vougeot tonight.

November 3, 2012 - A big, dense, tannic wine, even at 17 years old. Wow. A nice meld of barnyard and caramel on the nose, with some sanguinary and floral notes. Big cherry on the palate, lots of acidity, some herbs/lavender on the finish. I'd leave this alone for 3-5 years; it'll probably continue to drink well through 2025. 92-95pts.

September 17, 2006 - wow, one of the few burgundies in my cellar that I've opened that hasn't been spoiled or simply awful.

(Arnoux Robert Echézeaux) The deepest colour of all these wines. A brooding raspberry and black cherry nose. Dense palate with staining flavours. Very long with a little rasping texture to the tannins. A rough and ready wine that falls short of elegance but has undoubted eloquence. Really very, very good.
