September 22, 2014 - Very nice nose with sweet violets, tobacco leaf and dark fruit. Balanced palate but very dry tannins on the finish.
    Still very enjoyable.

October 22, 2011 - raspberry fruits and high acids, with a leafy green tone that didn't bother me, and nice minerally finish. B/B+

July 29, 2011 - Cab franc as its best.complexity, minerality, rusticity with a great tannic grip on the finish.fantastic !

February 20, 2009 - First bourgueil - definitely a unique wine - extreme graphite/ mineral at first. Then some fruit. After a couple of hours graphite and tobacco.

October 15, 2007 - Profound bouquet of crushed plums, blackberry fruits and black olives - very earthy on the palate with pure blackberries fruit, tapenade and vegetal flavors . Perfect with French cheeses or steak .

Rockss and Fruit

  • By Lyle Fass

(Breton Bourgeuil "Clos Senechal") Don't get me wrong I love Breton wines but this had that hazelnut thing on the finish which was an indication of levels of sulfur that were too low. The fruit was clean, concentrated and very pure. The tannins were ripe and sweet and there was alot to like...but the hazelnut thing killed me on the finish. It was slowly dissipating as the night wore on. This is a tradmark of winemakers in the natural wine movement of which Pierre Breton is a leading member.
