January 12, 2024 - A spectacular example of Soave! Appealing gold color hints at the density and complexity that awaits. A bit of reduction on the nose that slowly dissipates. Aromas are a bit hidden behind this, but you sense mild stone fruits and chamomile florals. Mouthfeel is round, buttery, and creamy; medium-plus bodied and more weighty vs. many other Soave wines. Palate is simply stunning: matches the nose and adds a bit of herb and spice, with a hint of melon and citrus. Big, lengthy finish! 92-93 now. *100% Garganega - such an underrated varietal that the Romans brought to the area more than 2000 years ago. *This wine, Soave Classico - Vigneti di Foscarino, has been produced by Inama since 1992.

August 19, 2023 - Deep gold in the glass but not over evolved in any way. Nose has an apricot coulis and Bakewell tart note. Some quinine bitterness too. With air some minerality really adds to the whole. Very complex wine for the money and with time ahead, one senses.

May 20, 2023 - Dark gold. The smell developed with air, starting on red apple and apricot and programming through herbal thyme, nutty aromas, beeswax, and faintly honey; the taste remained resolutely on waxy fruit. Elegant and adequately dense albeit without being very powerful. Long dry finish.

November 19, 2022 - Macerated with the skins for 8-12 hours. Fermented and aged for 6 months in old, neutral oak barriques. Blended in and aged for another 6 months in stainless steel. 13% alcohol. Tasted blind.

Pale straw yellow color. Sweet-toned, expressive nose of marzipan and apricot, some bitter almond oil tones, a little bit of apple jam, light floral nuances, a hint of lemon marmalade and a touch of ripe cloudberries. The wine feels fresh, open and youthful on the palate with a medium-to-moderately full body, a slightly viscous, oily mouthfeel and bold flavors of apricot and chopped almonds, some apple sauce, a little bit of crunchy cloudberry, light stony mineral notes, a hint of white peach and a sweet hint of yellow damson jam. The rather high acidity keeps the wine in balance and quite structured. The finish is juicy, nuanced and slightly on the ripe side with rather lengthy flavors of apricots and mirabelle plums, some apple sauce, a little bit of stony minerality, light crunchy notes of cloudberries, a hint of yellow damson jam and a touch of creaminess suggesting oak aging.

A nuanced, quite ripe yet still wonderfully balanced Soave Classico with a lot of vibrant fruit and enough structure to balance it all up. This feels somewhat fruitier and also somewhat more true to the region than the 2015 that was surprisingly un-fruity in character and - based on many notes in CT - evolving at a much faster pace than anticipated. This vintage doesn't seem to be evolving prematurely, but instead just as planned, seeing how still surprisingly youthful and at times borderline primary the wine felt at four years of age. Great stuff that is drinking wonderfully right now, but will also continue to age for a handful of years more. Good, enjoyable stuff.

September 25, 2022 - Golden yellow color at this time, darker than first bottle a year ago which was medium straw (this aged at room temp). Beeswax and a little pineapple on the nose. Yellow apple, pineapple, slight honey and then a little bitterness on the palate with a 30-35 sec finish. Really surprising, since a year ago I thought it tasted like a light and fresh sauvignon blanc, but now much more similar to a semi-dry chenin. Both times pleasant, but almost like 2 different wines which I attribute to just a year of aging.
