December 29, 2020 - Nose has a light spice, pepper and stone. Colour is light and bright. Tannins are light and the finish is smooth. Overall a nice feel in the mouth. A good light wine for a midweek bottle. Could see having this on a summer patio with a nice cheese platter.

July 5, 2020 - Deep shade of ruby red, with a purple-brown core, medium plus optical density, and detailed specular reflectivity. Aromas show medium intensity and offer a nice array of rose pedal, dark cherry, and savoury notes of oak spice- clove, hazelnut, and some light coconut. On the palate, light in body with fresh medium acidity and some firm back-end tannins that provide a decent structure. The texture is grippy but unobtrusive, for a thin juicy entry and a black tea textural tanninic finish. Flavours of rose pedals and ripe cherry on the attack, supported by some fairly present oak spice with vanilla and ginger. The midpalate shows through more spices and some darker fruits (mixed plum and blackberry). Finishes with light leather and cherry skins and a dry flourish of tannins. Overall pretty simple and not much depth to the character that is there.

This is perhaps an interesting take on Pinot Noir. Definitely a modern style that shows a unique take on the variety at the sacrifice of purity of expression. The choice of French and American oak perhaps adds a flair- but is deft enough to be more supportive than dominant. Perhaps this combination is what blocks the sense of Pinot Noir variety, as it's trying to be more than that. Still, a decent enough wine that isn't overdone or bombastic- just modern and doing its own thing. Does provide good value at least at $15 CAD, and would think this is a delightful everyday table wine.
