  January 19, 2024 - POB Special Cuvee Lunch (Moon Bay): From a magnum, touch of cassis, hint of stems but lovely red fruited. Acid a little protruding on the palate which is due to the lack of weight.

  January 19, 2024 - Pearl of Burgundy special cuvee lunch: Typical Vosne spice, very elegant for a '18 without the plodding density that I dislike in the vintage. No match for the stunning '15 that was opened later during lunch. Still prefer his Suchots despite Charles having a soft spot for the Malconsorts, all of them showed so backwardly.

  December 6, 2019 - From Au dessus des Malconsorts. Only 3 barrels produced. This 2018 Malconsorts offers an energetic bouquet of mixed berries, graceful dark fruits and rich oak spices. Good complexity with lots of substance. Give this 10 years of ageing and it should show superbly. Their Malconsorts was only bottled in magnum since 2012. (90/100)

Tasted from new barrel this time (1 new barrel out of 3 produced), so pronounced new oak comes through today. Rick mostly black fruit with lots of density and definitely brooding and backward. So much power and length. Unlike Suchots' power coming from old vine concentration, here lots of that backwardness comes from the bedrock-driven terroir and the intensity it delivers. Cellar for a decade or two or longer, 93-94+ point potential.

Much less forthcoming on either nose or palate, this comes across as backward and brooding, but still so powerful, long and hinting at future greatness. So powerful. This needs until at least 2030 or 2035, especially since it will only be bottled in magnum.
