February 21, 2022 - Cork broke in two when removing it. A bright golden yellow colour was encouraging for a Mâconnais of this age. I was expecting it to look far darker. My nose couldn't detect wood at the start, just old pungent orange and other citrus which was just beginning to decay, typical, in my experience, of white burgundy well beyond its prime. But a half-hour later the nose improved - the decaying citrus retreated and hazelnuts and roasted peanuts showed up, reversing the ageing effect. Bitter phenols in the mouth initially, but in 10 minutes the wine started revealing the sweetness of the harvested fruit, redeeming itself. I knew this had seen élevage in oak due to the mouthfeel, but it took more than three hours to detect its flavour. Well done on that score! No great interest here, but a very good wine which has endured the two decades surprisingly well.

April 5, 2014 - The 2001 Château de Fuisse Pouilly-Fuissé Vieilles Vignes is medium (+) gold in colour. Sweet roasted honey nose with pronounced nuttiness alongside dried apricots, beeswax and lemons.

The palate boast of sweet beeswax and dried apricots. There's some green apples showing from the mid-palate with some nuttiness from development. There's an underlying minerality perhaps, but rather weak. Flavours seem to be a tad bit tired, or perhaps the wine is shut. One might say its window is closing - hence, its now or never.

December 26, 2013 - Fully mature, still some acidity, but a slightly cloying note with a bitter finish. Rich and full, but not the best VV

Kinda reductive: smoke, gun powder, lemony, tangerine, mineral and spicy. Lots of roasted nut, but also quite spicy. A bit lean on the palate, I thought this was in a dumb phase, not expressive but showing good intensity though. Intense long finished with salty and bitter aftertaste. I'm kinda bothering by the bitterness at the very end, mineral?

August 20, 2010 - Ancient nose, all savoury and decay. No fruit. Medium weight in mouth with fresh acidity yet a soft, silky mouthfeel. Citrus flavours. Fades towards the end in a marshmallow flavoured softness. Some sweetness and fruit are maintained in a finish of moderate length, but which lacks bite or definition.
