April 7, 2024 - 👃 Cassis, green bell pepper, barnyard and animal hide

👅 Medium- to full-bodied (ABV 13.5%) with lively acidity (m+), velvety mouthcoating tannins, green chili, allspice and bretty umami notes.

📝 Jacky Blot’s premium Cabernet Franc (even though Jacky is primarily a Chenin Blanc producer), which shows in the unusually long cork.

Purchased from Jacky himself at his winery in Montlouis in 2021. Sadly Jacky passed away on May 15, 2023. He was a true wine legend. Before becoming a vigneron he was a paratrooper. 🫡

November 22, 2023 - Quite dark red and hazy in the glass. A hint of natural winemaking (reduction) with smoke and a peppery aroma.

    Needs food IMO.

    Drink.

November 18, 2023 - Dark red and cloudy. Peppery and smoky over the dark fruit and a bit reductive. Relatively grippy tannins with below medium acidity with black fruit and liquorice. Medium finish.

July 28, 2023 - How often have you been thrilled with a wine on holiday or in the maker's cellar, only to find that, once back home, it is merely okay? Now, there is nothing wrong with this wine. Indeed, it is quite nice, but I simply do not find it to be the stellar product I remember when I bought it at Le Domaine de la Taille aux Loups in Montlouis two years ago. Yes, it has fine structure, classic cab franc nose and palate, and appropriate acidity but it just lacks that 'wow' factor I remember.
