Community Tasting Notes 2

March 26, 2021 - Opened for 1 hour and slow-O’ed. Beautiful nose of leather, Christmas spice, cherries and raspberries. After tasting the ‘16 RdM I wondered what the ‘16 BdM would taste like. All the flavors that were present in the RdM are even more pronounced in the Brunello. I had tasted this wine from barrel in February 2020. It was wonderful then and has added more weight with time in the bottle. The tannins are silky smooth but present. The red cherries and raspberries carry over on the palate. Lengthy finish of over 60 seconds.

For my taste this young BdM is drinking well at the moment but has the stuffing to age gracefully for another 25 years.

January 24, 2021 - This is the first 2016 vintage Brunello I have tasted. After having been impressed so much by the Rosso of this vintage by Querce Bettina, my expectations were very high.

The wine is actually quite approachable already and has a very similar flavour profile to the RdM:

Medium ruby/red color. Full aromas of cherry, freshly crushed berries, with leather and some cedar and hints of and spices. Full bodied with big, silky smooth mouth coating tannins, fresh fruit and vibrant acidity. The finish is very long and follows through seamlessly.
This wine is drinking great right now in its youth but it has a solid structure that will make it develop for many more years to come. This is a classic vintage that will probably not reach it’s peak before 2030-2035.

It is everything the ‘16 RdM has, but then more of it!
Although I think that right now it is not as good as the amazing ‘04 and ‘06 of this producer it might actually get there in a few more years.
