Community Tasting Notes 9

January 26, 2024 - The grapes of this wine come from a surrounded 5ha vineyard, an early ripening terroir with a sand silt soil on granitic pebbles, as can be read on the domain’s website. As usually with Pinot Gris the wine is not flamboyant but rather understated and medium-bodied with pears, peaches, grapefruit and some minerality. The rather short finish is fresh and almost dry, with only a tiny bit of residual sugar. To my taste this wine is ready to drink and will not benefit from further ageing. Diam cork.

January 2, 2024 - Good medium-bodied white. Nose is fresh and mild, with some stonefruit aromas. Nice body on the palate. Stonefruit flavor is there but mild; also a subtle hint of smoke.

June 16, 2023 - Tasty PG, refreshing, tastes mostly dry. Good food wine and good handle some moderate spice. Tight aromatics at the moment, nice balance with a touch of richness.

April 7, 2023 - One of the top domaines in Alsace. This is a “simple” appellation wine, no grand cru but very good. Never the most aromatic or flamboyant grape, this wine has a shy nose with a bit of grapefruit and is almost completely dry on the palate which makes it very food-friendly. Quite intense with a lot of minerality and a good QPR at €21,00 ex-domaine. Diam cork.

January 29, 2022 - Interesting to see this so shortly after the 2019 - this is of course warmer (the vintage), richer, more evolved. Smoke, minerality, very sound fruit, good citrus - and a heart warming sweetness. Rich and balanced. Probably even better in a couple of years.
