Community Tasting Notes 5

February 2, 2023 - Chinese New Year Champagne Dinner (Tasty Loong): Blinded. Tirage 25 June 2015, Disgored Sept 2019, no dosage, 18 mg/litre sulfites. Good lean acid, a little light on the palate. Not the best rendition of this marker.

February 2, 2023 - Chinese New Year celebration with wine friends: Felt this was a little natural and funky the last time I had it but this was a lot better, albeit not as balanced or complete as the 2012 La Grande Ruelle alongside. Rather angular with more obvious greenness but this was nitpicking as I think I would have enjoyed it on its own.

December 20, 2021 - Good shit dinner: Slightly off-putting milky nose but palate was fine. High acid, vinous style with some green apples. As usual for Marguet it was an intellectual champagne more than anything else.

September 22, 2021 - I’ve had an inconsistent track record with Marguet’s champagne, and to be honest, I may be opening them too young. All that said, I am definitely enjoying this tonight (paired with sushi at my local spot). Brioche on the nose, bruised apple fruit on the palate, and all in, a pretty nice drink.

NOSE: leans oxidative; slightly bruised Gala apple

BODY: loose bead, which dissipated quickly; light bodied.

TASTE: toasty; spicy — baking spices; med+ acidity; very nice; very dry (no shocker —- no dosage). Will probably buy again to take another look, but not one I’m immediately in love with.
