November 13, 2021 - Really drinking great. Served blind to my Saturday lunch bunch and this showed really well. Nice dark dried ripe fruits still going strong with nice acid cut and earthy spices. A well made fine example of aged Brunello. Impressive.

March 5, 2020 - Resolved tannins, lots of fruit. Very elegant and fully alive. Some menthol notes, soft and lovely. I guess this is what they call a feminine wine.

July 13, 2017 - Hazy burgundy and slight ruby core on the eye. Red wild flowers, dried raspberry, dried black cherry, dried tomato, old saddle leather, tree sap, cinnamon, and paprika. Tangy, med+ acidity. The fruit is clearly subdued, but I'd say it still has 5-10 more years on it. Still kickin!

December 1, 2016 - WCC Pre-2000 Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti (Fort Orange Club, Albany, NY): Smoky, floral, red & black fruit nose. Ripe red fruit in the mouth. Tart and juicy. Simple.

September 12, 2012 - Brunellos 15+ years and older (Moderno, Highland Park IL): nose: very savory and balanced nose with aromatic tones of roasted herbs, incense, red fruits, dark red cherries, violets and some meaty tones as well. Very good complexity, but lacking some depth.

taste: medium/full bodied with medium+ acidity. There are some nice tannins still along with balanced and savory tones of dark red cherries, red fruits, violets and a good dose of roasted herbs too.

overall: This needed a few swirls to get going, but was real lovely once it did. It did start to fall apart a bit after about 3 hours as it became more soy based. Still, there was a great savory quality across the palate and nose.
