  October 31, 2012 - A really stinky nose in the first half hour after opening. The kind of nose that reminds me of the smell of cows in a stable when I went to visit farms when I was a kid. The farmyard aroma dissipates with air and leads the way to a floral nose that also shows red cherry fruit. There is more cherry fruit on the palate but its surrounded by a sense of lightness from a cool mountain climate which makes the wine light and elegant. There red fruit is accompanied by gentle spices and marks of forest floor. Great character, great transparency, stands out.

  December 9, 2008 - This reminded me of Lagrein but with less punch and power. Mulberry and plum fruit commingled with cocoa and a hint of spice on the nose, following through on the palate with fairly plush texture and well-balanced acidity. On day two, the wine’s primary tendencies completely morphed into flavors suggesting maturity, while a sour minerality reminiscent of upper slope Burgundy crept up on the finish.
