January 12, 2024 - A night of GG Rieslings (Ok Omens, Portland Oregon): This was wide open and extremely generous with nectarines, pears, red apples, orange blossoms, saline, lemon oil, crushed rocks, jasmine, and some stone fruit notes. There is very good depth here while there is a robust nature to the tones. The Medium bodied feel has an enticing fatness on the mid-palate along with tart, high acidity. The acidity is well balanced and shows off good integration at this time. This has a lot going for it right now but it also seems like it is starting to add in some mature development. This is at a slightly in-between stage and while I like where it is at the moment, I do wonder what the future will hold for it.

December 29, 2023 - Super delicious Riesling. Explosive nose of stone fruit, petroleum, pineapple, passion fruit, lime, grape fruit and minerality. Very complex nose. Really pleasing palate with lingering taste and almost oily lemon texture. The wine got better after an hour or so.
highly enjoyable and surely a wine to buy again.

September 11, 2023 - Gorgeous and exuberant, the kind of wine that leaps from the glass and immediately engages you. I could be overrating it- a small step behind a 2017 Carl Loewen GG I had not long ago in terms of richness and complexity maybe, but this might have had just a touch more acidic energy, which I really loved.

There's richness here for sure, fully dry but very ripe and perfumed with plump nectarine and grapefruit soaring high above exotic floral tones and touches of rubber, almost getting to diesel, but not quite that smoky yet. Those sharper citrus and rubber tones are part of why I love GG Riesling so much - it's like the heady fruit of a viognier but much more high-toned and complex. Maybe a touch of vanilla or something but difficult for me to say if I got any clear notes of oak.

Palate is extremely long, with an lingering burst of acidic grapefruit and other faintly honeyed fruits. Stony minerality pops up toward the finish, and I love how long the acid lingers, especially as it never feels tart or sour.

Could age, but I think the huge fruit is a big part of the appeal now. Maybe 3-5 years would show interesting mineral/oak aspects.

July 5, 2023 - Return to Willamette; 7/2/2023-7/8/2023 (Portland & Willamette): No detailed notes. Remember this being pretty standard Riesling GG. Easy to drink and nice and crisp.
