May 16, 2024 - It’s been 5/6 months since the first bottle and I felt like trying another one tonight.
Double decanted, spent about 1h open and then 2h in the decanter before going back in the bottle.
3h later it is really sumptuous. A core of dark red fruit with some spice and a hint of olive tapenade.
Excellent balance between fruit , tannin and acidity.
It’s still primary as expected however the winemaking skills are evident. Loads of potential here and easily a wine that can age for another 10-15 years.
Extra point awarded since the previous tasting as everything is in the right place here

April 1, 2024 - An attractive pale to medium red, a shining quality to it. Nose a class act, cherry and rocky herbs, quite deep. As you would expect it is high in acid and the tannins are present and correct but never overwhelming. Light red fruit on the palate, an earthern quality that feels very burgundian, but this has a strong and structured core to it. Grip! It's ready, but only after a lengthy decant - about 4 hours prior to serving in this case. So it will probably keep for a reasonable amount of time. If you have the 2016 I'd open this. If you have the 2018, I'd open that as I've read lots of reports about early-drinking and approachability, but equally this is extremely lovely in 2024.

March 31, 2024 - Light cranberry and pomegranate fruitiness on the nose at first. Later come rose, tar and tobacco aromas.

Powerful and very elegant on the palate. Juicy touch but a dry finish with well-integrated tannins. This is in a good place but should also be able to hold at least 5 years.

January 4, 2024 - Beautiful burgundy color with early signs of development.

Aromas reveal sun warmed dark cherries, birch wood, cola, sassafras, crushed roses, delicate baking spices, cooled wet earth. Very expressive at such a young age but grateful given the cooler vintage.

The palate affirms cherry notes, with cherry cola, cherry liqueur, warming spices, hibiscus, with fine-grained tannins wonderfully balanced by acidity.

This wine is long and easy drinking with no signs of warmth from 14.5% alcohol.

Enjoying a glass straight from opening while the rest sit in decanter. Will enjoy with Italian chicken, peppers and onions, and fontina rich polenta.

    Don’t sleep on 17’ vintage.

December 30, 2023 - Dark cherries , young but not austere. Fine tannins present. Quite compact and it does need a decant, a few hours at least.
Orange peel , spices, licorice, cherry cola, faint dried herbs and an autumnal breeze that brings a whiff of tar and smoke
