February 24, 2024 - Red fruit, cherries. Beautiful tannins. Drinking well. No rush to drink

February 23, 2024 - One of my favorite NZ Pinot Noir. Does not go well with spices though

February 1, 2024 - Revisiting this after a few years. My second-to-last bottle. This is in a good place now. Nose is still much the same as before, with the fruits wrapped in a subduing cloak of wood bark and earthy sous-bois. Palate is open for business, silky and nicely integrated. The red fruits finally come out to play, and a welcome lick of acidity livens up the finish. I don’t see much upside for the cellar here, but there’s no great urgency to drink up either.

December 27, 2023 - Quite a marvelous wine, and a perfect Christmas dinner bottle. Even with a short decant it still seemed quite closed on opening but there were signs of brooding power. Earthy, mushroom characters and meatiness. Came back to the remaining half a bottle the next day and the complexity unraveled. So much earth, savoury, cured meat, black cherry, wild raspberry, cola, pencil shavings. Tannins are fine and powdery but quite powerful and long lasting. The intensity and density of flavour is brilliant, the finish also, it just stays forever. Absolute drinking pleasure.

July 21, 2023 - MUCH better than the last bottle. No lactic characters.
Restrained raspberry fruits. Ditto palate. Briary complexity. Medium weight and length. Drinking well. No reason to keep it.
