July 8, 2022 - From soft gravel soil, experimental vines, showing little sign of age in glass

Soft tannins, dark fruit, earthy and vegetable notes very distinct. Age has clearly softened it, but still a way to go

January 12, 2022 - Deep garnet, showing clear signs of its age. At first the nose is quite animalistic (wet dog fur, leather), but also with some fascinating tones of newly baked bread, a hint of tobacco, and a touch of prunes. Medium bodied attack, high acidity and dry tannins dominate at first, then a red berry fruit emerges at the end. The finish is a bit dry verging on meager, but it is very fresh and very long. At the end there is a fascinating hint of red berries and tobacco. Again a wine that is made for food. Fully mature now, perhaps a bit over the top, but still very enjoyable. Fun to see how well cabernet franc wines age if made by the right people.

December 11, 2021 - Opens with a brett-fueled “pop”; and indeed, this isn’t shy with the horse saddle / band-aid / game. To be honest it’s remarkably bretty, oaky, and ripe compared to what I expected, and has a little bit of a “Pegau, but in cab franc form” thing going on. Not what I expected. That being said, it’s a very nice example of aged cab France, with plenty of red fruit and sweet tobacco under the funk, a youthful - albeit slightly roasted - fruit profile, and plenty of remaining tannins that have melted now into a velvet texture. At my upper limit of brett tolerance, and quite ripe, but darn good in spite of all that!

October 30, 2021 - Dark, rich ripe dry cab franc fruit. The fruit initially takes a back seat to the tannins, then emerges. Tannins are less pronounced on day 2. Nice balancing acidity, no discernable oak or funk.
