Community Tasting Notes 9

November 12, 2023 - This is probably in the prime of its drinking window. Tannis are soft and well integrated. Smooth texture and incredible aromas of dark fruit, compote, pencil shavings and all the classic notes of claret.

January 25, 2023 - From an excellent vintage, this 8 year old Okanagan Bordeaux blend is just starting to hit its stride. Medium plus almandine in the glass.

We decanted for 60 minutes and the aromatics were exploding from the glass. Rich notes of cigar box, menthol, ripe blackberry and blueberry compote.

Palate shows lovely texture and balance with finely integrated and mellowed tannins, robust acidity and just a hint of alcoholic presence.

Flavours are tobacco dominant with a juicy fruit filled finish.

    Drink through 2028.

May 20, 2022 - Smooth with berry. Low tannins. Was enjoyed by group more than the Syrah Cube Classique we had next.

April 7, 2022 - Would agree that this needs slightly more time. Some of the darker earthier fruit/stone notes aren’t quite coming through. Definitely need to decant to soften. But regardless could use some more time.

December 12, 2021 - 2015 Meritage & Bordeaux Reds; 12/12/2021-12/13/2021 (Canoehead Central): Double decanted for 1.5 hours. Purple-black with iron rim. Extracted nose of sweet, dried red and black fruits, cedar chest and baking spice. Stewed mission fig on the tongue with cassis, black cherry, rum cake, espresso and dried herbs. Acid is dropping out a bit. A touch too sweet on the finish. Fine tannins and alcohol in check. Drink up. Many thought this was the Blind Creek Consensus from the same valley region.
