Community Tasting Notes 8

May 4, 2013 - Taste of coffe, pepper and choclate. Still vital tannins. Long aftertaste.
Could have kept it for a couple of years more.

March 8, 2012 - Another overachiever from a not so great vintage. Have gone through a case of this now, and every bottle was a great drink. Somewhat dry but makes up for it with excellent aromatics and vibrant acidity.

April 26, 2011 - Bright floral/rose nose that is more perfume than incense. Berries, woodsy, pretty attractive. On the palate, tart cranberry, plum skins, black tea, acidity, wood and dry, grippy tannins which elicit a comparison to Nebbiolo. While this is pleasurable, I'm not sure the structure will soften into balance with the scarce fruit. There is a stern underripeness to the tannins and a dryness to the fruit that make this great with fodd but hard to interpret by itself.

December 29, 2010 - Medium ruby, tart cherry, sweet tobacco, rose, earth, incense nose. I would echo the Nebbiolo comparison below. Still pretty seriously structured, bright acidity, savory baking spice, slightly bitter medium finish. Nice expression.

June 7, 2009 - Beautiful bouquet. WS 87, which was clearly a mistake. Classic expression of Brunello with excellent depth. Still plenty of aging potential left.
