March 25, 2024 - 2 hour decant; very delicious Syrah, as I have come to expect from Maggie Harrison and her team. Dark berry fruit is primary, with some nice savory elements showing up on the midpalate and finish: Espresso, cracked peppercorn and tar, along with a bit of dark chocolate. Wish I had more! Drink now with air - 2032.

August 26, 2023 - Another wonderful wine by one of the best producers in the US today, not a statement I make lightly. The wine is dark, purple red, almost no bricking, high viscosity - but not overwhelming. Nose is beautiful with dark blue fruits, tobacco, bacon fat - typical savory telltale signs that are frequently present in these wines. Silky texture, this wine has always exhibited incredible combination of elegance and power. Harmonious on the finish, the viscosity allows it to lengthen on the palate. Excellent year in, year out, even in a mediocre vintage like 2017. Improved over the course of the evening, so will likely continue to evolve more of the complex savory notes that might propel the score even higher next time.

April 27, 2023 - Dark purple, medium-full bodied, balanced savory dark fruit with hints of smoke and bacon fat on the nose and palate with a big lingering tangy finish.

March 3, 2023 - We did a side by side tasting of the 2017 Lillian and the 2018 Lillian.

Both were decanted although the 2017 was decanted an hour longer. Both are nice representations of Syrah and well made but not impressive. We have been a fan of Lillian and Antica Terra, but these two Syrah’s were not complex and a tad underwhelming.

Nice dark fruit and hints of smoke on the nose and palate. Both were decently balanced as well, but the flavor profile was lacking IMO.

October 30, 2022 - Youthful and closed up on first opening. Decanted for an hour to get it started which helped. Shared out so didn’t last to hour 3. Balanced, dark fruit with a pitch towards the savory side but just a touch. Restrained power.

July 3, 2021 - Smooth, rich blackberry fruit with earth and slight vanillin flavors, excellent structure, ample finish, very good but expected more richness, depth, and complexity of flavors, Carlisle Syrahs are better!

September 30, 2020 - Outstanding. One of the finer Syrahs I've had. Elegant without being weak. Could be my new favorite.
