August 7, 2023 - Chapoutier truly excels w the utterly moreish Les Granits Blanc (v18, 13.5% ABV) - a deeply golden, effortless & pure 100% Marsanne Saint-Joseph, already in the drinking window. Deep, shiny golden in the glass. Striking intensity on the nose - fine-tuned tropical notes of mango, candied lemon, fresh pear, tad of honey, adding to a full-blown expression on the palate. Intense, precise & energetic, perfect acidity, quite salty minerality. Freshness intact, no fatness, lean & lovely concentration closing mineral-dry & long.

April 7, 2023 - Remains one of my favorite Marsanne's in the world. Rich and viscous, with quince, ginger and sweet apple flavors. Has enough acidity to keep things lively, but the richness wins out.

April 1, 2023 - Prominent but balanced oak, no fruit, some acidity, medium to long finish.

December 30, 2022 - Give it a good decant or leave some years? On day 1 and 2 was very shy. Nice texture on the palate but we struggled to detect any aroma. Perhaps some over-ripe apple but otherwise little fruit. Closed down? It improved after three days vacuum pumped and in the fridge. Some quince and stone fruits emerged, perhaps a little vanilla, but still nothing memorable. (A few months ago we drank the 2016 of this and enjoyed it. This has nothing like that character or complexity.)
