  April 27, 2023 - It has been eight months since my last note and the wine seems to have taken on a little more colour, being yellowish to light yellow. The nose is still reductive, with a lot of SO2 still around, smokey, with hints of bacon and more rock than fruit. The palate is light, ethereal, very crisp, dry, saline, energetic and vitally refreshing, even on a cold Spring day in Rīga. It may not be long or complex, but the sheer vivacity of this wine and the way it screams Mosel calls for a very good plus rating.

It's not apple nor pear or melon, but seemingly a melange of these three fruits. A pale yellowish colour, this looks ideal in the last summer weekend heatwave in Riga for 2022. Again, I stress that this has an unmistakable Mosel signature. The mouth is still very crisp, precise and focused, yet not lengthy, nor concentrated, as I said before, but simply marvellously vibrant stuff for a village wine. Very good plus.

  November 10, 2021 - My, oh my, how this has improved four months later! I've not had a village Mosel that shows so much slate, flint and smoke on the nose. The funk of 4 months ago is no longer there, instead, the three features I have mentioned, plus ripening apple fruit have an unmistakable Mosel signature. The mouth is very, very crisp, precise and focused. Although certainly not lengthy, nor as concentrated as the best individual vineyard bottlings, this has really raised my eyebrows. Very good plus +.

  July 11, 2021 - Screwcap closure here, compared to the cork-finished 2015. Light yellowish. Very pronounced and attractive sponti yeast nose, but burned match as well, with the sulphur holding the fruit back. Light body, kabinett weight and nicely concentrated, though short. At this stage it leaves the impression that ripeness might be an issue. Though currently short and not showing ripe, it's by no means simple and conveys a sense of purity and essence. But with all the funk presently going on here, this could be too challenging for the larger number. Good plus, but I expect this to perform better with time.
