Community Tasting Notes 3

April 23, 2024 - Bottled 9 August 2018, 12.5% ABV. Decanted. Incredibly fresh, youthful and energetic, piercing estery acidity - not unlike a Gueuze from Cantillon, subtle elevage notes (yeast, fresh white almonds), a vertical, linear wine, steel and creamy lemon, tart citrus, fenugreek and salinity, hint of peach, gains ampleur in the decanter, tightly coiled, incredible drive and length on the seemingly endless finish, unripe strawberry, green apple. Like a TGV, just goes on and on. My fourth vintage of this wine - the 2007 and 2016 had identical scores, the 1998 was the odd man out in my lifetime vertical so far.

October 1, 2022 - My first overnoy. The nose is to die for, a lot of minerals, funky, pears, apricots, zesty and yellow flowers… so many aromas attacking the nose all in once. Very complex. Palate is bright, laser sharp acidity, chalky, stony and fruity. The finish is superb which goes on and on. The colour is deep gold and cloudy. It was decanted and enjoyed for 4 hours. The nose and palate never faded. It should continue to develop for many years. 98+

September 20, 2020 - Verny lively, intense nose. There is salted lemon, nuts, honey, and sweet herbs like tarragon. Palate quite explosive with a rough acidity, that somehow doesn't overwhelm but is kept in check by the receding fruit (mostly apple), as well as a clearly defined saline background. Lots of staying power. Whether it is worth the hype, can be debated, however.
