July 18, 2020 - Darker opaque ruby. Nose of damp cellar, iodine, lavender, dark raspberry, spiky black cherry, brier, fine stone. On the palate lots of raspberry, craggy dark cherry, iron filings, and dusty soil after brief appearance of oak spice which ultimately faded away. Copious acidity and firm, grainy tannin. Longer finish of fine dirt, blue fruits, and brambles. Character and raw materials galore. Quite the statement from a village level Pommard.

March 15, 2019 - Great showing. No decanting needed, the wine opens in the glass over a half hour but is fully blossoming now. Very pretty on the nose, with jet black berries, along with hints of vanilla, stone, and leaf. A deep and dense nose, plenty of power and muscle here. The wine is better on the palate than on the nose - it shows a bit more grace and complexity, with layers and interplay of dark fruit and mineral and earth. It's delicious, it paired beautifully with an assertively flavored beef braise. Feels to me as though this has reached its apex, but its well balanced and structured and it will stay here for quite a while. I wish that I had a bigger cellar, and that I had tucked more of this away. At the $45 I paid in spring of 2007, it really feels like a bargain now for the quality.
