Community Tasting Notes 22

  • SAND Likes this wine:

May 7, 2023 - NOSE: Initially very earthy, even a bit of damp earth floor cellar. To such a degreee that I initially thought the wine was affected by TCA (corked) Slowly, very gradually, sweet fruit notes start appearing as well; ripe raspberries, dark cherries.
TASTE: The inital impression is earthy on the palate too. Then mature fruitiness, some acdity, a little bit of tannins. With air (1 hour) the mature fruit starts to become sweeter.

  • SAND Likes this wine:

February 27, 2016 - Medium dark red ruby colour.
Nose: Initially very red fruits driven with only hints of secondary aromas and faintest hint of some funk. It took 24 hours for the nose to really open up properly and start to show some complexity, although the wine still shows young and fruit driven.
Palate: Supple, slightly sweet fruit, quite rich and rather full bodied for a village wine. Again showing signs of still being in its youth, with mainly primary, fruity taste elements like strawberries, dark cherries, some (nice) tannins and a hint of white pepper. Well structured and a wonderful food wine. Very impressive for being "just" a CdN Village!
Unlike other tasters I'm not sure this will last another 10-20 years but I will probably wait another 5 years before I open my second and last bottle (optimal drinking window 2015-2022?)

July 18, 2015 - Light translucent ruby in the glass; ripe red fruits and a touch o' funk on the nose.

Wow, tight, tight, tight on the palate. I opened this for dinner tonight to give it a few hours of slow-O, but I'm not sure if that will end up being enough air. I will update this note with a comment after dinner, but I am surprised that a simple villages wine would be this tied down 10 years after the vintage.

All that said, the elements certainly all seem to be in place here for favorable development down the line, so I may have just jumped the gun a little on this bottle.

October 12, 2014 - Very young still with intense sweet and dark fruit. Very typical for the vintage. Will without a doubt keep for at least another 20 years. No joke, it's incredibly youbg!

February 8, 2013 - My last bottle, and it is probably best from now and another 5-8 years...Patience...
