March 24, 2024 - Nice offering from the Okanagan. Spicy, smooth tannins, medium acidity. Crowd pleaser, and decently priced.

July 8, 2023 - Outstanding once again, this 2017 drinking super well. Lush, round, red fruit in great balance. Tannins are soft and silky, a really enjoyable red and great pairing for bbq steak.

April 29, 2023 - 2017 BC Red Blends on Blueback (Vancouver Island): part of a blind tasting of 2017 BC Meritage blends. Dark Garnet. Restrained fruit - more savoury notes of black olive and cocoa. Fruit is more present on the palate. Maturing macerated black cherries and plums. a bit of malo creaminess. Medium weight. Balanced and somewhat refreshing. Medium plus finish. Second of three flights. Ranked 3rd by group; 2nd by me. This wine would benefit from protein and fat pairings - grilled ribeye, perhaps.

October 8, 2021 - Old world cues from this BC Bordeaux blend. Medium bodied. Mild nose, didn’t get much in the way of fruits on the entry but has a nice lingering finish.

I drank it along side a 2017 La Frenz Grand Total, which is my go to BC Bordeaux.

Nose - La Frenz is more vibrant.
Entry - La Frenz has more notable fruits - blackberries, cherry. The Red Icon is not very fruit forward.
Finish - The Red Icon has a much better finish. The Grand Total has a bit of a burn and dissipates quickly.

Overall - both are both fantastic BC blends, but need more time - in particular the Red Icon. For $20 less, Grand Total is better value. Enjoy!

September 20, 2021 - Excellent Red Icon. Good structure with blackberries, espresso beans and nice pyrazine notes on the nose/palate. Good supporting acidity. Can certainly be cellared for an additional 5-7 years
