  March 1, 2022 - Good quality wine, nice texture, deep, layered. Typical Aligote, tropical fruits, white, bit of vanilla. All aromas are very light.

  July 22, 2021 - Fermented in stainless steel (2/3) and oak barrels (1/3). Aged for 12 months in oak barrels. 12,5% alcohol.
  
  Pale yellow-green color. Quite restrained and perhaps slightly reductive nose with subtly sweet-toned and rather underwhelming aromas of rubber, some Golden Delicious d apple, light leesy notes of cream, a little bit of savory wood spice and a hint of white peach. The wine is ripe yet rather light-bodied, moderately neutral and even somewhat watery on the palate with a bit underwhelming, subtly reductive flavors of spicy red apple, some metallic tones, a little bit of chalky minerality, light steely notes, a hint of rubber and a touch of salinity. Bright, high acidity. The finish is lively and acid-driven with light and somewhat short flavors of fresh apple, some metallic notes, a little bit of leesy creaminess, light sappy herbal notes and a hint of salinity.
  
  I was baffled by this wine: I had had it before, and I had enjoyed its positively neutral, almost Alpine freshness back then. This time, however, the wine was very different. Noticeably neutral, yes, but instead coming across more bland and watery than refreshing, its somewhat closed flavors lacking all intensity and sense of precision. Furthermore, there seemed to be a hint of reduction, which made the wine both smell and taste slightly rubbery, which really didn't help much - conversely, it might explain why the wine came across so reticent and dilute. In our Aligoté tasting of 14 different wines, this wine was a dud and disappointment. Tasting it next to the 2017 vintage, the difference was vast, to the benefit of the younger bottle.

  January 5, 2020 - Second Sunday Group: Cornas vs Côte-Rôtie (Barb's): Double blind. Similar to the first warm up, though a bit brighter and with more obvious acidity. Orchard fruit and mineral with perhaps a hint of citrus. Guessed Maconnais chardonnay.

  August 26, 2019 - Aligoté at Table, Donkey and Stick (Chicago, IL): A little dirtier and funky than the Grandes Champs. A touch of sweet citrus and some bitter almond; this doesn't seem to have much of a producer stamp (though what's the Amiot signature?). I did prefer the cleaner Grandes Champs to this.

  Pale yellow-green color. Ripe and juicy nose with aromas of sweet-toned citrus fruits, some golden apples, a little bit of stony Alpine minerality, a little bit of sharp and crunchy white fruit, light creamy tones and a hint of white peach. The wine is ripe yet crisp and quite light-bodied on the palate with bright flavors of white peach, some sweeter red apples, a little bit of creamy richness, a hint of saline tang and a touch of stony minerality. Wonderfully high acidity lends good freshness and intensity to the wine. The finish is long, bright and crunchy with flavors of tangy salinity, ripe white fruits, some creaminess, a little bit of ripe citrus fruits, a hint of sappy herbal greenness and a touch of spicy red apple.
  
  A wonderfully bright, fresh and crunchy Bouzeron that doesn't try to be bigger and more impressive than is natural for an Aligoté. This is a light and delicate wine, but still feels very serious with good intensity, depth of flavor and sense of presence. My guesses were both more southerly but also more Alpine due to the wonderfully mineral core of the wine. Drinks wonderfully now, but seems to be able to develop further from here as well. Lovely stuff, recommended.
