  November 25, 2023 - Decanted for an hour and returned to bottle for service 2 hours later.
  Clear, med purple/ruby. Muted nose. Even with decant, the wine was tight and closed up. Very brooding black fruit. Med body, integrated but lacked brightness. Better with glass time and maybe that was the problem. Not really over the top, maybe in a locked down phase. $62 winery direct

  August 7, 2022 - Needed considerable time to open up. If I had a decanter I would have decanted it for at least 30 minutes. Acid prominent, but the fruit slowly followed.

  Pretty normal cali pinot, rich fruit with just enough acidity. Opens up nicely in glass.

  March 6, 2020 - Black Kite Pinots: Aromas of dark cherries, red currants, with rose petals, black tea, clay, earth, tar. Full-bodied, medium acidity, with saucy black cherries, spiced cranberry jam, accented with spiced black tea, coffee, roasted chestnut, clove. A bold, darker style, but delicious, deep but still well-balanced. Aged 17 months in ½ new French oak, 14.8% alcohol.
