September 28, 2023 - Brilliant 100% Cabernet from Sacrashe Vineyard in Rutherford. This is so well put together and it’s firing at peak for my palate. Explosive outta the gates, cherry pie, cherry liqueur, more red fruits turning darker with air. Crushed pebbles, dust, spice, herbs and beautiful minerality. Well-aged tannins on nice long flavorful finish.

December 17, 2022 - Very nice wine. Small caveat that I had a minor cold, so my taste and smell were not 100%. I decanted this for ~3 hours and tasted over several hours (before and after dinner). After dinner I vacuumed the wine and put back in my wine fridge. It came off a bit boozy (15.3% alcohol) at first at room temperature. I think serving this chilled would be better at this stage. However, there is no denying this is a wonderful, fruit driven wine. Sacrashe is a one of a kind vineyard for Hall's Excellenz bottling which I have had several times. I would love to follow this further in its evolution but this was a one off purchase from the secondary market.

August 12, 2022 - My goodness, this is so spectacular! 3 hr decant. Brooding and explosive nose of chalky dark cherries, blackberries, roasted plums, leather, all-spice and liqueur. So much intensity of aromatics and splendid depth on the palate. Adding notes of slate, minerality, firewood and melted black licorice. This is simultaneously massive while being graceful. The balance achieved by Jean is outstanding! Ample acidity plus pliable tannins ending with a long finish!
