Community Tasting Notes 5

August 16, 2023 - Tasted with E. during tail end of covid so my taste buds were off. She enjoyed it, but I think ultimately preferred the Domaine de Burignon 2022.

July 29, 2021 - Same comment as previously - balance has improved even more.

January 8, 2021 - Slow oxed over a period of four days (Coravin sample taken on day one and as evidence shows, Coravin doesn't completely prevent oxidation). Pale straw colour. On the nose, aromas typical of both Paccot wines and Mont-sur-Rolle. White/yellow fruit, linden, minerals. On the palate, the attack is frank, white-fruity/bitter but carried by a good acidity. I still find the high dry extract brings nearly too much bitterness, but the acidity saves it - for now. Certainly needs food and is still quite young - still not sure how this will evolve with such a bitter dry extract, but today, it is really very good. Best showing so far. 89-90

September 18, 2020 - Scratch the note below - on day 2, the fruit reappeared (though there still is a lot of bitterness). These wines need air and time. If drunk in the next year or so, open and shoulder 2+ hours or so in advance. 88?

Not ideal tasting conditions, but I noted the fruit that covered the bitterness last time seems to have decreased somewhat leading to the bitterness being the dominant aspect of this wine. And therefore, certainly not a sipper and would really need the right food. Currently not my favourite - will check another bottle in a few months and if it is the same, may forget them in the cellar for a few years, though not confident (doubtful actually) as to how it will turn out. Or perhaps simply a defective bottle? Appreciation this time: 85 or so.
