Community Tasting Notes 11

August 18, 2010 - Flavor has improved since the last time I tasted this (more than 3 years ago). Great fruit, oak and tar flavors balance it out nicely. Still some respectable (though smooth) tannins ... with a greatly improved finish. Super QPR, especially if you held on to some of these. Drink now or the next couple of years.

June 8, 2008 - This is the 3rd time that I have this wine. It is a very sold sipper that is a good QPR. The pluses for this wine include a very nice aromatic nose and a good strong attack of flavor and acidity that make it a great complement for food. The draw backs are that it is a bit hot and has a short finish. Overall it a good wine but not great. Also I am not sure how much this wine will change with age. Slight down grade.

May 8, 2008 - Nose is very intense, even right out of the bottle. With 30 min in glass, it has opened up to dark chocolate, shoe polish, charcoal dust and rich rich red and black fruits. Just a bare hint of gameyness keeps it from fruit-bomb territory.
Palate swims with sour cherries and, I agree, the finish is surprisingly short. It's a great food wine, though. I like it. THe shortness of its finish is definitely its downfall.

    December 30, 2007 - OUTSTANDING
This bottle has not changed in eight months. Mushroom, sour Cherry, tiny tiny bit of bret that makes it interesting!
    Wish I had a case!

May 8, 2007 - Pop & Pour shows a little heat on the nose, but not much else. Initial taste is salty cherry. Need to let it sit a little.

1 hour in.....not much on the nose, little fruit and little dirty? Heat is gone.

Flavor is all cherries, (black cherries), with a little milk chocolate (?). Nicely integrated tannins give this wine a nice mouth feel. I'm digging it
