June 24, 2023 - This has definitely opened up since I last tried it about 2 years ago, although I suspect it will continue to age well to at least 2026 and beyond as it put on weight in the glass over the course of the evening. Stylistically it is not Syrah as I have previously known it, but there were some lovely dark fruits in there. Think maybe a cross between Pinot Noir and Nebbiolo? Definitely worth a try.

March 20, 2023 - The only German Syrah I've ever tried is one I won't forget. So unnaproachable at first, a stone cold snub, dark like motor oil.

Meaty blood soaked liver, mint snuff, graphite, pencil shavings. Huge tannins to break down.

But find those little Syrah nuggets - metallic minerals and the tiniest bit of violet, and you realize there's something special here. It just takes a second to understand.

It’s the Ziereisen code - crack a thick outer shell, find a familiar friend.

May 12, 2022 - Garnet; hot tar, cherry red fruits; spicy, mid-weight, stylish; characterful. Drink soon

December 10, 2021 - Needs a bit more time I think. Really tight and tannic on opening, a little fruit came to play after a short while, but it retains that cool tannic exterior. Interesting for me in 2023, but not before.….

November 22, 2021 - The nose has fresh and sour cherries on the one hand, and very ripe strawberries on the other. The peppery note takes some time to take off and develop. Some wood, too. In the mouth rather light-weight, but with attractive juicy fruit, good acidity and fine-grained tannins. Somehow a Syrah in Pinot Noir style. Very good.
