March 26, 2022 - Purchased direct from the producer a few months ago. Much better than the other notes suggest. Amazing earth and saddle leather, dust and roses aromas. Mostly secondary palate. Woodsy and earthy. Some funk. Super interesting and full of character. Long finish. This needs at least an hour to show well.

October 20, 2018 - Tasted again -- I really don't like this wine. It tastes very green and woody. Other tasters seem to agree.

February 2, 2018 - This wine had a lot of pungent underbrush on the nose along with wet soil and cherry. I found it disappointing, but I won't give a rating because I was a bit sick when I tasted it.

January 11, 2014 - This wine was past it's prime. Decanted for 1 hour but still a little ripe and it has lost it tannins. Not sure it can recover so not drinking well even as stored in professional manner.

June 3, 2011 - much more enjoyable than my last experience. oak is much more in balance and the red pinot fruit is rich & full. ripe yet not overly so. plenty of structure for development. obviously consumed young but this was outstanding.

May 30, 2011 - 4 hr decant. earth, barnyard, licorice & oak on the nose. mild plum & strawberry fruit on the palate. firm tannins. this had noticeably more oak than other Magnien bottles I've tried, more than I prefer.
