  August 4, 2022 - I tend to pop Ultramarine rosé young - the aromas+flavors of crunchy red berries and violets cloaked in fresh acidity & mineral remind me of well-made young red burgs. In my book, calling anything Burgundian is the highest complement and I am an admitted fanboy of what Cruse is doing w/ his Ultramarine lineup. Anyway, got up the willpower to stash away a couple bottles 2015s to taste the effects of some cellaring. I must say, very please with what's going on here. The tension and energy remains and the fruit softened a bit to reveal additional layers pleasing complexity. Even young, the effervescence is very fine (a previous writer mentioned an "explosive mousse" but I fear he opened a shaken bottle haha) and here, the mousse is like Cedric Bouchard rose, ie, tongue tingling but soft. Cruse is trying to show off the vinous character of his rose bubbly and for my money, I'd sell Cedric's rose and buy a case of Ultramarine instead (as I have.) No knock against the Creux, I just think the market has taken the prices to speculative heights reminiscent of the 2021 crypto bubble and I for one, would rather cash that in and let the market pop it.

  March 2, 2022 - Dinner at home, Mill Valley, CA. From 750ml. Poured 1/2 hour after opening and imbibed over three hours. Cellared since release.
  
  This wine has come together beautifully over the last year. Super expressive but nuanced/delicate pinot fruit, with taut acidity providing verve and structure. Really enjoyed the interplay of fruit and minerality on the finish. Refreshing and complex. A memorable sparkling wine.

  November 21, 2021 - Our first bottle of Ultramarine after years of waiting... ombre in the glass, a gorgeous copper/salmon color trending to translucent near the bottom... as many have said fine, fine mousse and a tantalizing aroma of fresh picked wild strawberries. On the palate a linear acidity, but of cranberry not lemon or lime zest. The wine can best be described as luxurious and finely crafted. Can't wait to try more from the producer.
