  September 11, 2011 - Milder than I remember my first bottle being. I remembered the need for the extended decanting this time (60 min), so good success at avoiding the initially sharp tannins. Good depth, nice cherry / berries and pepper combination.

  July 16, 2011 - Beautiful, deep garnet-coloration. There's a nice heated, peppery finish to the initial, high-tannin hit to the palate. Took 60 minutes in the decanter to really hit its stride.

  October 10, 2010 - Deep ruby. Lovely nose of gravel, smoke,bloody meat, thyme, rosemary, blackberry, asphalt, violets, and fresh cracked pepper. Rich and supple, with a great mix of fruit and savory. Great texture, minerality and depth. Excellent wine at peak.

  April 28, 2010 - Aromas of intense dried cherries, leather, eucalyptus, chicken coop, tar, crushed red pepper. Palate is full and still slightly tannic at this age with a great acid backbone that carries on through the finish and results in a refreshingly tart wine. Flavors of baked red fruit, fig, cedar, graphite, spices and espresso soar across the palate. This wine is hitting its stride now and is an excellent value. Stuck somewhere between old and new world, it's an outstanding introduction for me to NZ Syrah.

  July 1, 2008 - Very good NZ Syrah. Just enogh "new world" roundness to it. (Not like some hardcore Aussie/Californian Shiraz) but still a somewhat classical sting in the mid pallate.
