February 7, 2024 - Such a good value! Dark cherry with medium oak. Nice earth and spice balance.

September 29, 2020 - "Light, raspberry, blackberry, plum, medium high tannins and acidity. Good to cut through greasy food but not really for me."

October 25, 2019 - Deep ruby with high optical density and medium specular reflectivity. Intense aromas that are appealing and fun- think candied strawberries, hard, juicy, red candy with lifted aromatic character. Not complex, but bombastic, delicious, and candied on the nose. The palate shows medium body, medium but fresh acidity, and a texture with only very slight tannins and a broad and polished feel. Almost flashy. Flavours of red fruits on the attack (strawberry, raspberry), with confectionary and light bubble gum in the background. The midpalate is juicy still, with red fruit and a bit of plum; perhaps a touch of earthiness here too. The final transition shows some herbal spice and juicy tobacco, before a finish that is medium in length and gives decaying leaf and light leather.

This is fun, easy, light, a tasty wine. Not a complex and deep monster, but a lively and showy drink that is a bargain at this price. Very difficult to rate with a single number, as this could be a 90 in the right moment, but also an 80. So mood dependent, but very likely to delight any crowd, and fits any situation that calls for juicy, fruit-driven red wine. Nice that it is not an EtOH monster also, which I find extremely refreshing. Not a wine that will impress a wine geek, as there is a varietal correctness here, but just so, and not much of a sense of place. Could be mistaken for Beaujolais, Barbera, or a number of new world medium bodied reds. Awesome as a daily dinner wine.

October 19, 2019 - Very deep ruby core with colour to the rim, high optical density and medium specular reflectivity. Aromas have good intensity, with strawberry, cherry, and bubble gum confectionary over light spice and warm wet gravel. Full bodied on the palate, with fresh acidity and a dense and even texture. Tannins are very soft on entry, with a firm-up on the back end that is broad-grained but not rustic or bitter. Flavours of cherry, strawberry, and raspberry on the attack, with a touch of sweet cream on top. The midpalate stays with a red fruited theme, but turns more candied and sweet. The final transition shows just a bit of spice and savory character, but still keeps the sweet red fruits before the tannins leave light earth for a clean and medium minus length finish of warm, unsweetened red-berry sauce.

This is surprisingly interesting wine. It's like it is almost trying to be a generic bubble-gum type of sweet red wine, but there is a lot more depth lying beneath the surface. Very fresh and juicy, but with enough tannin structure to hold it from becoming thick juicy fruit bomb. Definitely a fruit-forward and assertive wine, but with some character to the story. A very excellent value wine, this delivers above expectations, for an excellent every-day dinner wine.
