November 28, 2020 - Lovely nose. From the very few Rauzan-Gassies that have reached my neck of the woods, they all share a nice combination of Margaux violets and a pronounced meatiness on the nose. This one is no different.

Unfortunately the taste is lacking a bit. 1990 is not my favorite Bordeaux vintage by any means, but this feels quite thin, with almost no mid-palate and a very short, bitter finish.

Not a terrible wine, and would doubtless be better with food, but this isn't anywhere near the standard of wine being produced at this estate now.

March 8, 2020 - High ullage, cork in excellent condition .
Deep red colour with some bricking.
Very clean nose, nothing musty, tobacco, cedar, highly aromatic, maybe just a little mushroom.
Soft on the palate, still vigorous, stewed fruit, fresh orangey notes with walnuts and more tobacco, some tannin lurking here.
On the way down but only just. Lots of pleasure here and not just to lovers of old wines like me.
The longer this stays open the more the fruit comes out, maraschino cherry and earthy spicy notes. Doesn’t fall apart in the glass at all.
