November 11, 2009 - Concannon again delivers an exceptional QPR for this Rhone-style syrah, available for less than $7. Principally Syrah, also with Grenache, Counoise, Mourvedre and Cinsault, it is a medium ruby in the glass, with a nose of dark cherries, tobacco, green floral notes, and white pepper. The palate is medium-bodied, with noticeable Rhone-style blending of the multiple varietals, with excellent acidity. This equals some sour cherry mixed with dark cherry and red currant, a hint of black fruits, white pepper and well-integrated tannins. This could not compete with a Garden Series shiraz from Two Hands, but is very good in its own right.

October 22, 2009 - this has held up surprisingly well. still dark purple in the glass. lots of roasted plums, dark cherries and black pepper on the nose. lots of upfront black fruits. tannins are still there, but nice and silky. it drops off a bit on the finish and the fruit fades, leaving you with oak. other than that, i'm rather impressed that this bargain wine was so enjoyable.
