August 22, 2022 - Chablis and Red Côte de Beaune Dinner (Portofino - Chicago IL): Both bright and nearly tropical at the same time, with a long, lithe, energetic finish. Shockingly great for its vintage.

June 26, 2020 - 2001 (and circa) Burgundy (Jason's Roof): Tasted double blind, and the only question is whether this was premoxed or just oxed. Either way, this was clearly not a fully correct bottle, so while interesting, it went into the dump bucket - a shame with Raveneau.

September 8, 2017 - A perplexing wine, certainly past its prime, but not showing any oxidized notes, instead dominated by old funk on the nose and copper, applesauce, and sharp acidity on the palate. The 2001 Vaillons is negativity impacted by that vintage's botrytis, if not rot in general.

April 14, 2014 - Agree with previous notes. definitely past its prime, drank just in time really. Not the best from Raveneau to start with though.

April 16, 2011 - Decanted and poured, this wine continued the trend of '01 Raveneau not showing well. This wine lacks the focus and purity expected from this producer. On release many of the '01 Raveneau showed well; however, in the last couple of years the vibrant youthfulness faded and the funky elements began to become more assertive. This is most likely not to improve with additional bottle age.

April 16, 2011 - Scott and Kate's din din -- Another 01 Chablis hit by the botrytis issue. Not liked by the gang, "undrinkable" to some (I didn't go that far). The slightly moldy, heady, coppery botrytis is there, but there is also good stuff like toasted hazelnut, truffle honey, peanut brittle. A mixed bag, glad this is it for my '01 Raveneau/Dauvissats.

December 15, 2010 - Light, fresh yellow color. Beautifully expressive Chablis. Crisp citrus fruits with nice steely mineral backbone. Drinking extremely well at present, probably at peak.

November 25, 2008 - Superb chablis and very Raveneau. Vibrant and powerful; open and drinking very well now.
