March 13, 2022 - Prior bottle was almost a year ago and this wine has clearly improved, almost exactly along the lines I'd hoped. Black cherry, black raspberry, spices and earth notes on the nose, but in a more balanced and pretty fashion than previously. Medium bodied with rounded and expressive black cherry upfront along with some higher toned red cherry. Mid-body adds black and red raspberry as well as darker plum towards the back. It has opened up as I'd hoped, showing more complexity on the same frame. Backside shows tart red cherry, light spices, earth and minerals to go along with acidity and integrated tannins. The fruit and structure overall were in better balance. Deserves the bump in score due to better overall balance, increased complexity through the middle and better mid-body-to-finish integration. Drinking well at present, particularly after 3+ hours open and should continue to improve along these lines. I'll probably wait on my next bottle until Q1 2023.

August 26, 2021 - Brimming with earth and forest floor in the nose, strong sage and spice on the palette. Truly a savory, old world-feeling gem. Just off the charts. I'm sad that I was out of dinner when I poured it. Also, by the way, I looked it up on Vinous. Galloni kinda shat on this wine and wow, he missed the boat. Very wrong on this one, Tony G!

July 26, 2021 - Beautiful PN. One of the best, if not the best, from the region

April 3, 2021 - Black cherry, black raspberry and spice notes on the nose. Medium bodied (13.5% ABV) with black cherry along with brighter red cherry, almost strawberry. Mid-body has very good depth (as I'd expect from this vineyard) along with round and expressive black cherry, plum notes towards the back and an overall elegance and silkiness to the fruit. Good contrast on the backside with tart red cherry, structural tannins and some balanced spice notes. Usually, this vineyard site takes more time to come together, but after three hours open, this 2017 as showing quite well. Still clearly has room for additional positive evolution as it continues to integrate. I may try my next bottle as soon as Q4 2021 to track the progression to peak.

November 18, 2020 - Wow, this is one of the finest Pinots I've had from Chanin, or from California for that matter.
