Community Tasting Notes 8

January 5, 2012 - Drank a cellared bottle of this against a 2009 of same. Tannins refined and gone now, leaving dark fruit core exposed. The flavors, albeit simple, are integrated harmoniously with one another now. If you still have this in your cellar, drink now it has peaked.

January 15, 2010 - Drank over two evenings. This wine keeps getting better. The rough edges are now gone. The wonderful aromatics present on the first evening dissipated on the 2nd evening but it was still tasty. Not showing any signs that it has peaked (yet). I've got only two more bottles left. I'll probably try to make them last through the end of 2010 or so (maybe one in Q3 2010 and the last one in Q1 of 2011).

June 30, 2009 - Very nice Syrah. This was a gift, so I don't know about the P in QPR, just the Q. The nose was very nice, with some red Columbia Valley earth, Hero black currant jam, smashed up vanilla bean guts, and a licorice note. The flavor was vanilla vanilla and some mixed berries. Not a Fruit Bomb. Nice firm tannins, very pleasant, beautiful structure and definately not the same ol' same ol'. I would pay $20 for this. $15 would be a steal, and $25 would be doable, but a premium. I hope its not $40, then I would go with Perrin CdP Les Sinards.

December 18, 2008 - Hints of licorice on the palate. OK stuff
