April 27, 2024 - Medium ruby red in color. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, herbs, leather, mint, tea, minerals & a hint of cedar. Medium bodied with a good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of red cherries, cranberries & strawberries with dried herbs, earthy/dusty, orange rind, minerals & cedar in the background. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but even at 8 years of age, it should develop slightly further with additional aging. An indicative blend of 90% Sangiovese, 7% Canaiolo & 3% Colorino.

January 4, 2024 - This wine needs some time. We drank it over two nights. The first night was very pedestrian and the other wine on the table, a 2015 Bordeaux, was broadly preferred. The second half of this bottle was re-corked overnight and finished with the next night's dinner. By then it was singing! It had a classic Chianti profile that was in-line with initial expectations. My rating reflects the combined experience. Day 2 alone would be in the 93-94 range. I will wait until at least 2026 to sample one of my remaining bottles.

August 25, 2023 - Takes its time to open up, but a true beauty once it does. Florals, cherry, cranberry, orange, game. A model of precision, intensity and grace. The quintessence of classic Chianti Classico. So refined, nothing overdone. Very long and very understated. Will be at its best from 2026 - 2036.
