February 3, 2017 - Unremarkable red wine on the eye. Big on the tannat character (old paper, maybe?) on the nose and palate. Still bright, still fruity, still tannic. Still youthful at 13.

    September 19, 2014 - -- popped and poured --
    -- tasted non-blind over a few hours --
    -- 92% Tannat, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon --

NOSE: expressive; red-fruited; floral; strong chalky/mineral wash (reminds me a bit of LB Bdx.).

BODY: violet color, with just a hint of browning at the edges; sediment present; medium to medium-full bodied.

TASTE: wow, this is good! Still presents as young, but no harsh tannins from its infancy remain; medium-light oakiness; 14.8% alc. is well-hidden; adequate acidity; tertiary aspects (leather and muddled berries) creeping-in now; sweet cherry gummies; probably at peak right now, although I don’t necessarily see it dropping off this peak anytime real quick here; drink now through 2024.

    50, 5, 12, 17, 8 = 92

March 15, 2013 - Wished I took notes, but this was a VERY enjoyable bottle of wine. Drank over two nights and found little change in the two tastings. Big fruit, but not (Paso) jammy. Deep and dark.

May 27, 2012 - Still a bunch of fruit. But dominated by a smoky leather mouth. Colorful impressions were the back of a jeep on WW2. Leather, oil stained, with some bomb ash. All really interesting and deep for Paso.
