February 28, 2024 - My last bottle of this. Medium golden yellow. Very vibrant, bright acidity but gloriously long and rich. Lemon curd, stone fruit, minerals. Light florals. A great wine as always with such wonderful texture and depth of flavor.

P.s. After sitting on the counter in the decanter overnight, the next evening this is still going strong. I can’t say it is better but wow still tasting great. 95+

April 19, 2023 - This is made in a classic, oxidized style while still retaining fresh zippy acidity on the very front, and a buttered pecan, almond butter opulent finish. Poured a heavier straw golden color to the glass. I recently was able to enjoy a 1979 Schramsberg Reserve (no fizz left) and a 1980 Ch Montelena Chardonnay and this one resembled the 1980 Monty Chard in texture, flavor and profile. This was a very full bodied, oxidized style wine. Herbal density in the middle. Finishes with some white pepper acidity but the acid is definitely more front-loaded in this wine. If you're more of a fan of the brighter, leaner chardonnays, this one is probably not going to be made in your style. I like 'em just about any way they come, so it definitely didn't bother me. Was enjoyed with salmon patties and black beans and did a great job pairing with that. I'd honestly say that this wine has another 20 yrs left, although I figure that this one will start developing those tertiary flavors in 10 years. I'd say that it's probably in its drinking window quite firmly without a doubt.

January 18, 2023 - Consistent notes with 10/21 tasting. If anything, this seemed to require *more* air to get to its best self, a solid 2.5-3 hours, when they fruit finally fully came out and balanced, if not integrated, with the vigorous acidity and surprising tannins. Reiterate that this is the unicorn CA chard that is likely to hit its peak around its 10th birthday and drink well for years thereafter. I put this producer with Ramey as my favorites for mid price chards, and when you want something high quality but don’t want to throw down the C note plus for a Morlet or Aubert (or, when I’m in a generous grading mood, Kistler or PM), a great, reliable choice. 94+ if scoring and highly recommended.

June 24, 2022 - A bit shutdown on the aromatics. Rich and viscous on the palate. Maybe this just needs more time

April 27, 2022 - This was really good. Deep gold color (although a little less deep than the regular bottling for 2015). Complex nose and palate with honey, citrus, oak, lemon, and tropical fruits. Well balanced with acid carrying the day but not overwhelming. I have one more which I’ll save a few more years. Nice mix of New and Old World sensibilities.
