March 26, 2021 - Bought almost 7 years ago from a private cellar (who had purchased from the vintner). This one was a bit weird at first but always had a great nose. After a flinty and metallic finish, this one settled down. First notes were a little "metallic" with a little disjointed acidity. But after 2 hours this one changed. Blackberry backbone. Black licorice. Incredibly youthful at 21 years of age. Full throttle black fruit, brambly, hint of vanilla. Wow. Finished without being awkward... Very weird and wonky front turned into a balanced and complex wine with a very nice finish. Perfect for 21 years!

September 6, 2015 - Beautiful dark red color with no indication of bricking. Earthy nose. Very smooth on entry. It takes a second as the wine moves back to detect currant/black raspberry flavor, but it is very subdued. While tannin is detectable, the years on this bottle have subdued or resolved most of them. A similar comment can be made about the acid level. Light acid is detectable. Lengthy finish with hints of leather or tobacco.

January 2, 2015 - 2015 New Years bottle- tannins were smooth and mellowed. Pencil lead and black fruit - lost the gobs of fruit it had when young.
