Community Tasting Notes 47

March 11, 2013 - 13 years after bottling this wine still had life left in it, however much of its vibrancy had been lost. This wine was consumed a little after what I would consider a good drinking window (there were several storage hiccups that could have contributed as well). The wine had the distinct dark red with browning of the edges that is known of old Bordeaux. The dark cherry flavors that once danced on the palate have mellowed and the dark earthy undertones are now much more prevalent. The spice is still there as well as the vegetal components. Overall, still a great QPR for a Bordeaux. I wish I would have had a few more bottles to taste how it evolved for the last 2-3 years.

May 31, 2012 - This wasn't a bad bottle. Nice muted old world nose that opens up to a bit more funk and complexity after 15 minutes, taste of maturity and integrated tannins on the palate with some rustic, brambly undertones on the nose and finish. I could see this going well with some simple, understated foods like mushrooms, roasted veggies, or ingredients in a caprese salad. Think I got this as a gift but I'd buy another bottle or 3 to drink now if under $20.

August 6, 2011 - Good not great, wasn't taking any formal notes. Threw quite a bit of sediment and had a decent amount of bottle variation between the 2 we consumed. Well balanced and rustic. Not bad for $16.

January 2, 2011 - great finale, good fruit-tannin balance, enough body to match well with the braised beef.

December 1, 2010 - A little more fruit, than as stated in my 05/04/10 TN, showed in this bottle. Drink remaining bottles quickly!!
