    September 2, 2023 - McLaren Vale doesn't come to mind as a Chardonnay region and this wine is probably an example of why.
    Solid yellow turning gold at only 6years under screwcap, There's some lemon on the palate and a hint of stonefruit on the nose but the wine is mostly secondary with nuttiness and spice dominating and slight oilyness, I expect it's been firmly oaked and has had full malo.
    Not unpleasant, especially with a hard cheese, but I can't imagine that this is what any Chardonnay lover is hoping to open.
    That this is the "reserve" offering seems a bit sad, but then maybe the non-reserve might actually be better if it would be more primary with a lighter winemaking influence.
