April 30, 2021 - A wine of 1001 complexions - well named Donnafugata! Is it ripe grapes, morello cherry juice, name a berry, it's here. Is it young and flirty or auditioning for a spot in your cellar? A few taster's will get the balsamic notes mentioned by the winemaker. Umani anyone? How about the glycerin cannuba wax candy finish - from Sicily yeah right.

I suspect the winemaker has a refined sense of humor and ultra refined palate.
    Looking at flights to Palermo....

    October 9, 2020 - Color: a very satisfying medium-dark ruby
Nose: fruit is ripe. Cherry, blackberry, and plum. Chocolate. Tallow and cream soda. Licorice. Maybe a hint of dry tomato and tutti-frutti
Palate: medium acidity, medium tannins, structure is there but not imposing. Tannins are hinted. Ready to go. The licorice and beefiness make an impression but the fruit is strong
Finish: medium, bit of alcohol burn

Great pizza wine. Has a nice structure but is smooth and soft. Little alcohol burn at the end the only balance flaw. Qpr fantastic

August 25, 2020 - Good wine, well made and at an excellent price. Less funky than other Nero d’Avola’s I’ve had in the past, perhaps Sicily is getting the hang of making it consistently.

    Body: Medium+
    Acidity: Medium
    Tannin: Medium
    Typicity: Medium-

Notes of blackberry coulis, dust, Earth, smoke, black currant.
