November 1, 2010 - Scholium Off-Line (Trestle on 10th (NYC)): A lot of citrus dominates this, with nice floral undertone and a touch of brown sugar. Nice mid-palate weight. Very enjoyable.

November 1, 2010 - Scholium Tasting (Trestle on Tenth, NYC): loved the nose on this -- citrus dominated. palate couldn't quite live up to it, but was an interesting transition to stone fruit and minerality.

April 25, 2009 - Upon opening it was too cold and closed. After it warmed up it really opened and paired extremely well with the Food at Degustation. It was also a nice follow-up to the 89 Lopez Blanc.

November 11, 2008 - If this is Scholium, I'm glad I'm part of the club. This is fantastic. Not like anything else you've drunk before or are likely to drink again, so comparisons are completely useless. Not true to the variety, either. Who cares? This wine is all about purity. Wonderful aromas suggestive of a pale, not very distinguished Sauternes, all honey. Dry palate of stone and grapefruit peel. Austere finish, then wham--a salivating, juicy aftertaste. Goes this way and that way, but the experience is memorable every step of the way. 15.2% alc/vol, which is really a bit worrying--especially since there isn't a hint of alcohol. Well balanced but big. Won't forget this one.

June 6, 2008 - A Variety of Wines from S. Africa, CA, Australia, Germany (Mandarin Oriental, NYC): I had the 2005 in April and thought it was okay, but not great. I had this 2006 and liked it more, but the oak was really pronounced. Too much for me, in fact.
