Community Tasting Notes 11

July 21, 2012 - Super-ripe and port like bombastic styled Zin. Raisins and prunes with a big dose of alcohol. I had given this bottle to my brother 5 years ago for his birthday and we popped it at a family gathering. I did not enjoy it all all, but my brother and dad thought it was great, so there you go. I guess this style has some appeal to the broader market.

May 23, 2010 - Big fruit on the nose. Body was heavier than most zins, great cherryon the mid palate and good spice on the finsih. Went well with tri-tip, would have liked to pair with some ribs.

November 18, 2008 - Big whalop of grape smacks you in the head like Mike Tyson in his prime before the ear biting incident! This could have the most packed grape and black raspberry flavors of any wine I've had in recent memory. Touches of black pepper, earth, and cedar chips arise on the finish but that big, juicy fruit just covers your entire tongue. This James Gang Reserve is 10 points better than his Ballistic Zin...in my opinion...

June 26, 2008 - Fruit waning a bit, though still some cherry and raspberry. A little peppery, and as someone else mentioned a slight bitter taste on the finish. Not bad.

March 23, 2008 - A little more time in the closet did this wine a lot of good! Yum!
